Heated Kneader

Heated Kneader

Details
A heated kneader for solid resins, hot-melt adhesives and other compounds that need to soften before they will fold. The standard design temperature is 230 °C. Electric rods, steam and thermal-oil circulation are available, so the heat source can follow the utilities already on site.

Product Introduction

On a heated kneader, the wall and the centre of the batch need to come along together. If the wall gets hot first, resin can skin or scorch while the middle remains hard. We check the heat path and shaft clearance as one job, not as two separate catalogue options.

More than 75% of the mechanical structure is made in our shop. That lets us place utility ports, insulation and service clearances around the customer's installation drawing instead of asking the plant to work around a generic sketch.

Product Features & Application

For a heated project, send us the target temperature, heat source and batch size first. Electric rods suit a self-contained installation. If steam or thermal oil is already available, we lay out the jacket and connection positions before steel cutting.

Before the batch is fully soft, the WEG motor and Guomao reducer see the heavier torque. As heat spreads, the NSK supports allow for the small movement that comes with heat-up, while Siemens speed control and Schneider/Chint protection let the operator change the cycle without a single fixed setting.

Core Components & Features

A temperature number is not enough on its own. Customers usually ask how the drive, bearings, utility connections and first maintenance check will behave together, so the component notes below answer those points directly.

WEG Motor

At the beginning of a cold cycle, the WEG motor sees the highest resistance. We choose its starting margin from that condition as well as from the softened load, so the operator is not forced to wait for the resin to loosen before the blades can work.

Guomao Gear Reducer

The Guomao reducer sets blade speed while resin moves from stiff to workable. We check its ratio with the 230 °C design limit, expected cycle time and selected heat source before fixing the drive.

Siemens Inverter

With the Siemens inverter, a cold start can stay gentle. Once the material opens up, the operator can move into the working range and keep the recipe stages separate instead of running every step at the same speed.

NSK Bearing

NSK bearings carry the shaft line through repeated heat-up and cool-down. A steady centreline protects the seals. It is much easier to spot rubbing during a planned check than after a tolerance change has stopped the line.

Schneider Electrical Components

The Schneider cabinet covers heater switching, motor protection and operator controls. We match it to the site voltage and to the selected electric, steam or thermal-oil arrangement, so the maintenance team can identify each utility connection.

Applications

A heated kneader is useful when a batch must soften before it can fold or when a narrow temperature range has to be held during mixing. The 230 °C design limit and the heat source are confirmed with the formulation; neither is assumed from the product name.

application-chemical-adhesive

Chemical & Adhesive Materials

Solid resins and hot-melt adhesives usually need an even heat-up before they will fold. A jacket and a torque-capable drive help avoid a hot wall beside a stiff centre, while speed can be changed as the material opens.

application-rubber-plastics

Rubber & Plastics

Plasticized compounds may move well at one temperature and degrade at another. We review the thermal circuit and speed range together, giving the operator room to keep viscosity workable without overheating the formulation.

application-food-materials

Food Materials

Some confectionery and food bases need gentle warming before the blades can build a uniform fold. For a sanitary line, steel grade, polish and cleaning method are specified alongside the heating arrangement.

application-carbon-new-materials

Carbon & New Materials

Binder-rich carbon and advanced-material pastes often disperse more easily after a controlled warm-up. A stable jacket and a strong drive let the development team compare temperature with dispersion instead of guessing from a cold batch.

Production Details

The heated kneader presents a compact mixing body on a fixed base. The side drive and control cabinet stay clear of the utility connections, and the service route around the chamber can be seen in the production layout. The range follows the common NH/NHZ sizes, from small 0.25 L reference capacity up to 10,000 L.

Before release, we confirm heat source, connection size, insulation, temperature range and contact finish against the customer's installation drawing. The final appearance then matches the utility that will actually be connected.

Product Qualification & Inspection Support

At PDI we can run the drive, check bearing temperature, confirm heater and control response, inspect visible welds and verify the selected utility connections. The 230 °C design limit and certificate scope are recorded for the ordered configuration.

Delivery, Shipping and Service

The carbon-steel body receives high-temperature industrial protection, then is fixed to a steel skid and packed in reinforced timber. We provide packing photographs, utility notes and remote installation guidance. A 12-month warranty supports the first production year.

FAQ

Q: Which heating method is normally used?

A: Built-in electric rods are the straightforward standard. Steam or external thermal oil can be considered when those utilities already exist at the customer's site.

Q: How do you avoid scorching near the chamber wall?

A: The heating surface, blade clearance and speed profile are reviewed together. The aim is to keep material moving across the warm zone instead of leaving a stationary layer at the wall.

Q: What temperature information is needed?

A: Share the target range, maximum safe temperature, viscosity before heating and batch size. We will then review heater duty, jacket connections and the drive profile.
